On Saturday, JCCA’s East Flatbush Community Partnership hosted its fourth annual “What’s Next 4 Her: Brooklyn Women’s Summit.” The yearly event brought together women from across New York City for empowering workshops and discussions at the BKLYN Commons Coworking Space on Flatbush Avenue. New York State Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman, a native of East Flatbush, delivered the keynote address.
“JCCA has an unwavering commitment to addressing the evolving needs of children and their families, as well as to give back to the surrounding community. The ‘What’s Next 4 Her: Brooklyn Women’s Summit’ is a testament to that, empowering women by providing them with the tools, connections, and inspiration they need to excel in both their personal and professional lives,” said Ron Richter, CEO of JCCA. “We believe in the transformative power of community and the importance of supporting each other’s journeys.”
“One of our goals at JCCA’s East Flatbush Community Partnership is to empower and inspire women by providing a platform for meaningful connections, learning, and growth,” said Lamacca Holmes, Director of the East Flatbush Community Partnership.
“It was an honor to serve as the guest speaker for the fourth annual ‘What’s Next 4 Her: Brooklyn Women’s Summit.’ The women honored at the summit are educators, community advocates, therapists, business owners, faith leaders, and even youth. They are examples of the leadership and unity our community needs to thrive,” said New York State Assemblymember Monique Chandler-Waterman. “Thank you to JCCA’s East Flatbush Community Partnership for holding space for women to be empowered, uplifted, and encouraged.”
In addition to the keynote speech, attendees enjoyed three impactful workshops led by a group of dynamic women. The “Envision Her” workshop, facilitated by Noderea John, LCSW, helped guide attendees to clarity on their aspirations. The “Her Path Forward” workshop, led by Maria Terrero, a successful Wall Street broker, explored diverse perspectives on financial security. Lastly, the “Putting Her Best Face Forward” workshop was led by Tanisha Gaskin-Christie, a skincare and color consultant who discussed boosting confidence and highlighting individual beauty.
Local business owners from across Brooklyn also had the chance to showcase their products at a pop-up shop, and several attendees walked away with great raffle prizes.
