In September 2022, the Campus hosted 40 JPMorgan Chase staff, including executives and high-level staffers, for a barbecue on the quad, joined by many campus residents and JCCA staff. The social atmosphere was easygoing, convivial, and warm. An impromptu game of flag football broke out between the youth and the visitors, and flash of light rain did nothing to dampen the fun.
The lovely gathering was organized by Eric Tepper, CEO of Chase Wealth Management, a former lunch bunch volunteer on campus. Recognizing the diversity of the young people on campus, Eric saw an opportunity to do something special. Through his personal and professional connections, and with the help of diversity leadership groups within JPMorgan Chase, Eric assembled a cohort of multicultural leaders to attend the event––many of whom, despite living Westchester, were unaware of our existence. As this was not an official corporate event, Eric handled the outreach and promotion himself and personally paid for all the food and supplies and arranged for their delivery.
The value of the event extended beyond fun and good food. The residents were clearly curious about the new visitors, and the JPMorgan Chase team were engaged and enchanted by the Campus youth. Thank you to Eric Tepper for your enormous generosity and initiative!
