Rachel Begun

 

Rachel Begun, MS, RDN is a former food and nutrition communications strategist and subject matter expert to the media. She founded and managed her own strategic communications firm from 2009-2022, served as a National Media Spokesperson and Chair of the Dietitians in Business and Communications Practice Group for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and has and continues to advise health-focused organizations, including Beyond Celiac and Food + Planet. Rachel earned her bachelor’s degree from Emory University and her master’s degree and registered dietitian certification from Columbia University.

As Chair of the Western Region Board and National Board of Directors Member for Step Up, Rachel fundraised to support programming, participated in an organizational restructure, and mentored young women as they navigated their future from high school through college/training and launching their careers. Rachel joined JCCA’s Board of Trustees in 2025 and volunteers on the Pleasantville Cottage Campus by participating in Lunch Bunches. Her husband, Darren Smith, also volunteers on campus.
